0-256mph in 1/2 mile

You wouldn’t believe it if there wasn’t video. 0-256mph in a half mile is a world record that puts some of the fastest cars on the planet to absolute shame. The company even bested their own previous record to set the new one. How does this car perform such extraordinary feats? It’s a combination of classic race car engineering with a lot of modern tuning and technology.

Traction Traction Traction

Every foot at the beginning of a straight line run matters, whether it’s a quarter mile or a standing mile. To achieve the staggering speed at the end of 2,640 feet, the Huracan has to fight with the earth to move all that power and torque forward. Ultra-wide Toyo R888R are only part of the story: modern tuners utilize a boost-by-gear system that allows them to tailor how much power goes to the ground in low gears where wheel spin is a big issue. You can bet Underground Racing is doing the same with this build.

Category 5 Huracan

Once the tires have won their battle with the earth, the fuel pump quenches the thirsty V10 with its racing fuel to twist out over 2,500 horses. This massive amount of power is what is needed to fight the air and overcome drag once the car is moving into triple digits. Each horsepower pushes the car forward in a violent surge of acceleration.

Shift Times

Every second counts in a record run like this which means shift times play a crucial role. No clutch pedal here, it takes too long. No standard box either. Underground Racing builds everything custom to ensure longevity and repeatable performance. As experts in the standing mile, half-mile and quarter-mile, they have dialed in the perfect spread for this car to snatch the record.

Will Underground Take it All in 2018?

With the Texas Mile held each year in October, we will have to wait and see if Underground Racing is the first company to crack 300mph. M2K recently set the record at 293mph and John Hennessey has yet to release the F5. It’s all up for grabs this year! It's going to be an exciting event where history is made by someone... We'll just have to wait and see who.
