Nothing To See Here

Imagine pulling up to a light in your Pursang edition Veyron or the latest Chiron: you probably wouldn’t even glance at it. What? With its tires that barely look over 225mm wide and laughably modest stock wheels? This car couldn’t be that fast. Until you pop the hood…

Explicative Deleted

As much as Boba loves his VW, the stock power plant just wasn’t going to cut it. Every single part of this car is a testament to how understated the philosophy of a fast VW is: the engine bay doesn’t look like it makes more than 300whp. So you’d think until you look at the size of the turbo with its mesh screen in place of an air filter. This car chucks out a neck-snapping 1,200 horsepower!

AWD Rocket

Anyone who drag races knows when it comes to engineering, you can’t beat all-wheel-drive. Your work would be cut out in a race against this pocket rocket that packs more than a ridiculously powerful engine: it has AWD for insanely hard launches. All that forward bite enables this car to cover the quarter mile in 8.76 seconds @ 160mph. Your Bugatti is now burned french toast.

Backyard Engineering?

This car is built with the same ethos of the Veyron as every component is high quality and built to last. Pumping this kind of power out of a 2.0-liter platform requires alternative fuels, (Boba uses E85) which means structural components in the engine have to be strong. This ideology is exactly what makes the Veyron and the Boba Golf Mk1 so similar. They are both the same deep down, only the Boba Golf is a bit faster (and not as expensive to service).

Weight a Minute

You might be wondering how heavy this car is given its appearance. The answer to that question is a reasonably light 2,061lbs. In layman’s terms, this car has the same power as a Super Sport with half the weight to move around. If that doesn’t make you perspire, then you might not be human.

VW Fanfare

With the Volkswagen IDR taking a victory at Pikes Peak, the Chiron exploring new top speed territory, and Boba’s Golf pushing the envelope of what a shop can create with a simple Golf, it's easy to see how special this brand. Boba Motoring’s crazy 8-second car makes you feel like anything is possible and that is why it’s truly special.
