Moroboshi Style

When it comes to customizing things, the Japanese are on another level. Their wild and crazy style spills over into fashion, art and above all else: car culture. And, Moroboshi’s Lambo is the loudest of the loud. So loud, in fact, the guys at Need For Speed heard the racket and featured one of their cars in the video game franchise.

Who is he?

In a short documentary titled “Underground Hero: Love To Hate Me” the seemingly elusive modifier of these V12 bombers is a self-made gangster from Japan who describes his work as “a grey area.” All of this adds to the mystique and notoriety of the group creating a persona that reflects in the way these cars are built. Zero consideration is given to what others think and the car is truly built to be exactly what the owner wants.

Custom Everything

He isn’t just the owner of a cool car, but the creator of a shop called Fighting Star. The company sells carbon fiber wings and things for Lamborghinis as well as a host of other merchandise. The shop has a Gallardo just in case for one split second you forgot about how flashy everything is. I wonder if you ever get used to an Italian supercar with strobe lights attached to it.

What’s the point?

This style of tuning is really the extreme end of personalization. These cars can be likened to something that is done to make a statement more than speed and built with the intent to stop you dead in your tracks when you see them. If nothing else the sheer hilariousness of how ostentatious they are is sure to make your day among the boring commuter cars of Saitama.

Not a fad

Car customization takes many shapes and forms from ridiculous Lamborghinis like this to purpose-built dragsters that burn down the quarter mile on Sunday. This style of tuning is somewhere in between supercar and low rider while managing to stay entirely true to the owner and his roots. Whether you hate it or love it one thing is certain: Moroboshi isn’t changing his style any time soon. Deal with it!
