Imagine the ultimate modification to your favorite ride – making it float on air. It’s not an easy task. The flying cars pictured here look like the ones seen in Sci-Fi movies like Blade Runner and The Fifth Element.

That’s what French artist/photographer Renaud Marion created for Air Drive, a retro-futuristic photographic series of flying cars now on view at the M.A.D. Gallery in Geneva, Switzerland.

Marion was obviously inspired by science fiction flicks and a love of classic cars by Aston Martin, Chevrolet, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche.Mercedes300SLOShea_Lres

“As a child, I imagined the new millennium with flying cars, spaceships, parallel worlds, extra-terrestrials living with us on earth and time travel,” says the photographer. “We would have all been dressed up in space outfits and equipped with laser pistols. These are the dreams of a normal child, I think… I hope.”

He started shooting classic cars like the Chevrolet El Camino, Mercedes 300 SL Roadster and Jaguar XK120 in 2012 in Geneva, that he would later manipulate into the futuristic hybrids that you see in his current work.

Marion would like to drive a flying car before he dies (who wouldn’t?) and hopefully the technology will become a reality before that happens.ChevroletElCamino_Lres

The exhibition is currently on display at the M.A.D. Gallery in Geneva.  The images are available in a limited edition collection and can be also be seen in the gallery below.
