A New Meaning of Lightweight Motorcycles

Adding horsepower isn’t always the best method of making something go faster. Just look at the Bugatti Veyron. It’s ridiculously powered, but something that weighs ¾’s of its overall weight can cook it in the quarter mile with no problem.

That same Collin Chapman approach of less weight is better, especially is important in the world of motorcycles.

This bike right here is from Simone Conti. He’s a man that has the extraordinary talent to make new age motorcycles into complete works of art, and this bike is no exception.

As you can see, the Boxer motor in this bike is originally from a BMW motorcycle, and uses another BMW S1000RR frame to set the bike with a real race bike effect.

However, what you don’t see is all the handcrafted metal work that makes up the entire rest of the bike. Everything you see under that beautiful paint job isn’t carbon fiber, but rather hand beaten aluminum.

While using carbon would have made the bike a tad bit lighter, the aluminum harks back to the original café racers and race bikes of the early 60’s. It’s absolutely gorgeous and I would love to have one sitting in my garage.

What do you guys think about this magnificent bike? Work of art, or too much effort for the finished product?
