Peter,Sean has a little book smarts but not a lick of common sense.
A half witted moron could walk away with Bra & Tint for $700 all day long.I have to remind myself we are talking about Elementary Walrus(Sean).
OK I had to think of a example for Sean's common sense. One day at a car meet Sean asked me if I remembered where he parked his car, with a surprised look on my face I told him he was sitting on it.

W/ all the advanced electronics (a Blue Tooth that actually works, etc) a metal based tint w/ create interferance and the dye job tints will not block heat/UV rays etc and will yellow. The F1 is the latest technology and blocks more than 50% of heat and 99.5% of Uv rays. Why would I have a 58K car and put crap tint on it?
You boneheads have Scotch tape on your windows.

Here's a link to some more information of our latest production - Diamond Cut IR Film.
Benefits:
1. blocks off 92% of infrared rays - traditional non-metallic tint only blocks about 30%.
2. Ceramic based film such as Madico and Huper Optic indeed have metals embedded in its construction to assist with heat rejection. This affects wireless signals such as keyless entry on BMW and Audi, radar detector signals, cell phone signals, etc.
3. Ceramic based tints provide on average of 75% infrared heat rejection. Our IR film blocks 92%.
Here's a link to some tests we are performing in-house - https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...t-ir-film.html
As for paint protection film (aka clear bra), this all comes down to the needs of each individual owner. Some do not mind rock chips while others despise them. Everyone's different.

Whether IR or ceramic are the best, clearly both are major advances in terms of heat/UV reduction and, IMO well worth spending a little money on. My Merc will be a mostly outdoor car so it needs all the protection it can get.
