Yes. As a software developer myself, I realize that I am the most likely culprit for any change in behaviour being the human element in the system. However, I have tested multiple different approaches to coming to a stop just as I did when the "jerking" was present. As far as I can tell, reproducing the exact same conditions now presents completely different results. It really has me baffled.

Nice post, and I agree. I also think manual transmissions are fine and I can accept that some drivers want the clutch and gear shifting as an essential part of their driving experience. Those drivers need not denigrate the PDK experience to justify their own preferences. PDK is a technical marvel, although there are some minor bugs to be worked out based on the problems people have reported thus far. The problems appear to be largely software related.

I am reading these posts about the PDK shift characteristics and looking into my crystal ball and can only say...boy am I glad I got the car before it was neutered in following years for being "too sports car like".
You bought a sports car. A REAL sports car. It can go directly to a race track and will competently provide hours of joy. Trouble-free. THAT is unique in the automotive world. Its "sport" mode it will provide more aggressive shifts and throttle mapping.
If you have a tender constitution, and are offended by the workings of a mechanical device, then Porsche accommodated you- your PDK has a "Normal" mode.
Sometimes I wonder, are these complaining posts about PDK real? Or planted by competing marques fanboi's? Seriously? Who the f@@@ complains about a **crisp** shift in a sports car?
(scary thought- your car may even be equipped with a Launch Control feature...ooooooh ahhhhhh)
I revel in the occasional whines, clunks, whirrs of the PDK. I love how it jerks my neck in Sport at near full throttle upshifts. I like the rev-matched downshifts with the quiet mechanical symphony that accompanies them. I am a gear head and a car nut and appreciate the PDK as a masterpiece of engineering and I love hearing and feeling it work its mechanical magic.
It is a near perfect execution of the concept of a fully automatically controlled manual transmission.
It suits a Porsche perfectly.
Sorry- but after reading two different posts in the same day I am deeply perplexed and have lost more faith in mankind as a whole because of them.
If you don't enjoy a visceral connection to your car and the road, then maybe a Carrera is not the car for you?

Same here - I'm thinking software has not changed, hardware has not changed - maybe I have adapted. Hmmm...
At any rate, I'm happy with PDK so far. I think it is quite amazing and flexible. I really like this car.

My view is NOT -
PDK is great and its the only .

Manual is great and it's the only.

Both PDK and Manual have strenghs and weaknesses . In order to maintain consistency and credibility ALL claims need to be evaluated . That means that neither the manual nor the PDK is vouched as privaledged and exempt from criticism too.

I think PDK is superior but still prefer manual. I'm just glad we have the option to choose.

PDK is a very impressive piece of engineering and I have had the chance to drive a 997 with it as a loaner when mine is getting serviced. That being said I sure do love my manual transmission. If I want to be reminded of what is truly clunky shifting and drive train noise I just climb into my 1978 fj40 Landcruiser with a 4 inch lift and 33" tires and go rock crawling. That is some noise with sharp angles on the axles where the u joints are located. Everything else shifts like butta.

Although I would NEVER in my right mind consider a tiptronic on a 911, all these comments are making me think twice about a future PDK 911. The best of both worlds would be what yyralis has (a PDK and a 6 speed manual)...ideally a PDK C4S and a 6 speed GT3RS.

I respect the PDK and all it's marvels, but in 15-20 years I can see it now...the lost art of manual shifting with the proper heel and toe rev-matching because all sports cars will be equipped with an "automatic" manual transmission. I hope Porsche will continue to give us the option of purchasing our cars with a 6 speed or PDK, and not follow along with Ferrari with no 6 speed option at all.
