DIY: 997 OEM Trunk Mounted Collapsible Spare Tire – C4S
#46
PatriotsR1, I mean RaidersR1, I do that every time I drive it, but there are trips when I don't want to take the car because of the distance or on the weekend(with no tire replacements available), etc., Just wish there was a replacement tire in the frunk, even a donut. It's the same reason I hate runflats, if you're 200 miles from home or it's the weekend then you are screwed if you have a failure.

I'm sorry if I missed this in an earlier post, but the part # for the oem spare listed in the opening message on this thread from stilljester, 996-362-150-00, is for a 16" wheel. My baby has 19's. Will that even fit on my 2005 Cab? I appreciate any help.

Marty I have the 17" collapsible which I keep in my trunk/hood. It fits fine at an angle actually just fits perfectly. It will also get you home on 19's which I have. Just don't go drifting on it.

I got mine Craigslist, I have seen them on ebay as well - although I just checked now and only see 16" ones. I purchased a tire carrier with a handle on ebay for $35. I would say keep watching ebay - you can purchase one from either Suncoast or Pellican but they are super expensive - mine cost about $300 all in with shipping from colorado to mass and the cover.

The 16" collapsible spare will fit your 05. The boxster 17" bicycle tyre will also fit. Picture of the two tyres. The boxster tyre has to be put in at an angle to fit in the frunk.
