Alpina B7 or Audi S8

I'm shopping for a new dd and I'am deciding between these two cars, I've driven an S8 and it was nice but was typical audi (overboosted everything). Has anyone had experience w/ both?

Stan

I've only sat in an Alpina B7, and imo the materials were atrocious for a car of that level. Can comment on anything else though. The interior felt cheap to me personally.

S8 will eat philly winters with ease. Besides the interior is sweet.

I drove the S8 and wanted to love it, but just couldn't lie to myself. It is beautiful in every way, and every time I see one I wonder what could have been ... On the other hand, personally the way a car drives is more important than the way it looks and I'm sure the B7 drives much better. A good friend and all-around car guy/member of 6-speed has one and I'll prompt him to chime in. Good luck!

As Jim mentioned I own the B7. In fact I seriously contemplated getting the S8 but decided on the B7 after extensive research. I should also admit that I am a recovering Bimmer-phile having once owned an E36 M3-convertible and an E39 M5. The B7, as some may know, is a 4.4 supercharged beast delivering 500hp and 516tq which is considerably greater than that of the S8. The 0-60 is circa mid-4’s which is particularly impressive given its weight. I agree with the comments offered about the disappointing interior but have resigned myself on the basis of the adage; “it is what it is”. My other car is a fairly spirited 911 and I actually like driving the B7 as much as I do the 911. I can unequivocally recommend the B& for anyone interested in an uber sedan that yields more performance than either the S8, Continental GT or S63 at a relative value price point.

Thank you for all the useful responses. I've driven the current 7 series and I thought the interior was OK, other than the I Drive what are considered to be the weak points on the inside?
