Thumbs up BMW 335i goes 3.9 second 0-60!

Hey gang,

With all the V2 hype I figured I'd go out to Irwindale Raceway and try to stir up some buzz for JB2 owners. The plan was for a sub 7 second 1/8th with new softer tires and a 50# weight reduction (to get down to the equivalent of a 160# driver).

Unfortunately everything didn't go according to plan, the new tires are too tall and the car would just bog. My best time was 8.02@86.92 w/ 1.752 60'.

So I got home feeling a little bummed, but figured since I already had the tires on I'd try a few 0-60 runs on my "private track". I made several runs back and forth each way, and am pleased to report several 3.98 0-60 times, and a 8.07 1/8th mile. I guess not bad for a little JB2, some ~95 octane, and tires. I can't wait to change the exhaust!

Also attached are some times from my car the week before, it was much quicker on the narrower 245/45 tires.

So sick. Can't wait to pick one up. Threads like this are golden. I am contemplating between a C6 and the 335i and have no doubt I would get work done at Active Autowerks. Do you have an Auto or Manual? I love the fact that you get 4 seats / gorgeous interior / and still beat out Vettes

Auto all the way! I love it in traffic and on the strip. AA does good work with them.

It makes sense for me to get work done by them since they are only about 1 1/2 hours from my house. I have heard nothing but good things really about any of the tuners out there though. I think AA is probably the conservative one of the group compared to JB / Vishnu etc. I haven't ridden in any 335 that has been tuned though; I am very curious though. How is the torque? I hope it has a bit of beef to it and isn't horribly smooth. I want to know that the car is capable and still a bit rugged feeling (for a BMW anyway) :P

It's got a lot of torque and is smooth. It's a good combo.

Nice times.

It looks like one of the V2 guys hit 3.90 0-60 and a 7.98 1/8 @86.6 mph.

Yeah we're both on drag radials, although my car is probably 150# lighter. Then again my wallet is $1100 heavier...
