2005 Ford GT Nearly Reaches 300mph

Ford GT crushes the standing mile at 293 mph without breaking a sweat.

There are fast cars, and then there is this Ford GT. While in every way shape or form the GT was a world-class performer out of the box, a stock sample doesn’t hold a candle to this wildly customized version by M2K.

This video comes courtesy of the Top Speed Racing Association, and it features the record-setting run for the world’s fastest standing 1-mile Ford GT. Now, it seems to us that such title attempts to claim a few things which we aren’t sure about. For example, most mile-long runs are done from a standing start, yet this title clearly labels it. Maybe there’s a faster rolling-start mile-long GT? Who knows.

In addition, it’s not just the world’s fastest standing 1-mile, but the world’s fastest standing 1-mile Ford GT. So in other words, there’s a faster non-Ford GT standing 1-mile out there? Again, who knows.

Regardless of its very specific claim of superiority, there’s no denying that anything that can go 293-freaking-miles-per-hour is downright impressive. Once a vehicle reaches between 180 and 200mph, the laws of physics get really annoyed with humans and they try their best to slow us down. So by all means, what a feat!

Enjoy.
