Instagrammer Spots McLaren F1, Freaks the F Out

By -

Seeing a McLaren F1 on the street elicits an entirely understandable — and decidedly NSFW — reaction.

Anyone who said you should never meet your heroes clearly picked the wrong heroes. In the case of Instagram user Stephanie Cemo meeting one of her idols was all it was cracked up to be, and then some.

Of course, we’re talking about automotive idols, here. Admittedly, Cemo sees a lot of cool cars in her line of work as an SCCA Trans Am driver and coach. However, her reaction to seeing this particular machine is entirely understandable for anyone, regardless of background.

The McLaren F1 needs absolutely zero introduction to any of our readers. Of particular interest is the F1 LM edition, built to commemorate the McLaren F1’s success in the 1995 running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The endurance racing-inspired aero granted the McLaren F1 LM some additional high-speed stability at the expense of a little top speed.

White McLaren F1 LM

As if the already-limited production of the McLaren F1 wasn’t low enough, just five F1 LMs were built — one for each car that finished the race, including the winner. All but the two owned by the Sultan of Brunei were painted Papaya Orange, the late Bruce McLaren‘s racing color.

We’re pretty sure that Cemo wasn’t in Brunei when she spotted this white McLaren F1 LM (besides, those two are black and grey with stripes, anyway). So what’s the story?

Just a few minutes of Google-fu turns up a white McLaren F1 converted to LM spec living somewhere in New York. We have no idea who the lucky owner of the mysterious white McLaren is, but if they’re half as excited to drive it as Cemo was to see it, we’re about as green with envy as you can get.
