Unique 6-Rotor BMW M6 Blows Our Minds

By -

We love strange builds like this M6. However, who takes one of the best engines ever made and swaps a different… oh, it has 6-rotors.

We will admit, we have seen our fair share of weird and unique builds here on 6SpeedOnline. However, this one might just be one of the strangest we have seen so far. This is for many reasons of which we will go into greater detail. Let’s start with the car itself. The E63/64 BMW M6 features one of the greatest production engines to ever be built: the S85 V10. 500+ HP with an 8,250 RPM redline from a naturally aspirated race engine is something that we for a fact we will never see from BMW again. It sings like a classic F1 car (thanks to BMW’s involvement with the sport at the time) and it is amazing that you can buy a car with this engine in it for under $30,000. People buy these cars just for the engine. It’s that good.

However, here we have the tables turned. Somebody bought an M6 for the chassis. I don’t think I have ever seen that happen before. Nothing about the old coupe car is particularly stunning or impressive from a design or function standpoint. Most people preferred the look of the M5 sedan, to begin with. At the end of the day, it was all about the engine. But, here we are. It is interesting for this chassis to go from having an insane stock-engine to an engine we’ve never seen before. Thanks to BoostLust on YouTube, we get to learn about this 6-rotor BMW M6.

Let’s start with the obvious. There is a 6-rotor Wankel engine in a BMW. Those unsuspecting will instantly notice by the fact of the massive dual 6″ inch tailpipes exiting directly center of the rear bumper. Then there is the idle. It sounds somewhere between an angry swarm of bees mid-attack or a prepped F1 engine from the ’90s. Either way, it sounds like if you get too close it might kill you. Another thing to notice is the 12 ignition cables, two per rotor. Maybe the 6 individual throttle bodies? Perhaps the endless amount of custom AN lines and the tucked engine bay? There is too much going on with this car we don’t even know where to start.

Supposedly, this car was built in South Africa as a track car for a customer. Then it was up for sale for $80k. Maybe $150k, it depends on who you ask. Nothing online can give us reliable information on this vehicle. The only thing we can really be certain about is that it does exist. Where the car is or whether it currently runs or not, we are unsure. However we will hand it to those geniuses in South Africa, they really did blow our minds with this one. We did our best to scour the internet with updated pictures of this car. For more information on the car, please watch the full video and be amazed.
