918 Porsche Spyder and Carrera GT Photo Shoot Out
A decade apart and a world alike, the similarities between the 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder and the 2006 Carrera GT would stun anyone. These two beautiful German rides had a get together and a marvelous photo-shoot, and we’re so glad that they did.
After all, claiming that they are alike is very different than actually seeing the two side by side as they are photographed together.
With body styles that are almost identical, a long center console, and an endless amount of sleek Porsche excellence, one might even mistake these two beauties if they didn’t know any better. That’s not to say that there aren’t major differences between the two, but it’s definitely not seen through outward appearance!
Back in 2005 the Carrera GT was produced with a V10 engine that produced 605 horsepower. Though not to shabby at all, one might claim that this set-up is rudimentary compared to the more refined hybrid V8 that the 918 Spyder possesses. This revolutionary V8 puts out 887 horsepower, and the weight savings compared to the V10 are bound to be phenomenal.
Clearly engine technology has come a long way in the last decade, which is amazing to see. After all, when the new engine with less displacement is making nearly 300 horsepower more than the previous V10, you know that Porsche must be doing something right!
But regardless of that, this really is about the glorious photo-shoot between two iconic and wonderful rides. Though one may be faster, we would hesitate to say it’s necessarily better.
