The 918 is far and away, the most exciting new thing to come out of Porsche in recent years. Sure, the Cayenne is successful and the Panamera is a fast sedan, but Porsche has stayed away from building a super car since the Carrera GT. Like that rare beast, not many people will get to ride along in the 918 when Porsche finally releases it. In-car video like this give us an idea of what the world looks like from the passenger seat of Porsche’s finest.

The lucky drivers in this video are touring the Dubai Autodrome; a race track I’m most familiar with through Forza. There’s a good amount of engine noise from the Porsche 4.6 liter V8, but it’s not really a raucous noise at all. It sounds… Sedate. For a Camry, that’s fine, but I was expecting more.

This is a video taken from a camera phone, so I’m reserving judgement on the noise. Other cool things worth noting include that neat center console touch pad. Technology from halo cars like this tend to filter down throughout the model range, so maybe a touch sensitive console is in the cards for future models of the Carrera. Time will tell.

What do you think? Will Porsche’s hybrid super car live up to the hype? Let us know in the forums!
