Alfa Romeo 4C

The much-anticipated Alfa Romeo 4C was one of the stars of this past weekend’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, showing off its agility to the crowds for the festival’s main event, the Goodwood Hillclimb.

The name “4C” pays tribute to famous Alfa Romeos of the 1930s and 1940s. Models like the 8C and 6C were named according to their cylinder count. Alfa says the 4C is “the perfect synthesis between the past and future of the Alfa Romeo brand, ” and if that’s the case, the future looks bright.

In a world full of bloated and sometimes morbidly obese vehicles, the 4C is a much needed break from the bulk. The car’s frame is carbon fiber in the center, with the front and rear subframes made of aluminum. Engineers worked to achieve a weight-to-power ratio of less than 8.8 lbs. per hp, which is very near supercar territory, and pretty good for a car with a 240 hp, 1750 cc, turbocharged and direct-injected engine. The car will also come with the Alfa TCT dual-clutch transmission.

Future 4C owners will love that the car is manufactured at the Maserati plant in Modena, Italy.
