It’s Brit on Brit action in this battle of the gorgeous super-coupes.

When it comes to the world of high-end sports cars, there is a lot of choice. Ferrari, Lamborghini, Audi, and even Acura and Nissan all offer impressive performance machines that will destroy any track you can point at. Then there is Aston Martin, the company that makes cars that play second fiddle to the Italians in the performance realm, but strike forward with unparalleled style and beauty. They also tick that magic “driver’s machine” box by still selling cars with three pedals and high-cylinder counts.

Two of the newest and most exciting cars from the company are the DB11 and the V12 Vantage S. One is an ultra-luxurious GT car with turbocharged V12 built by Mercedes-AMG. The other is a track-ready coupe with three-pedals and V12 of its own, albeit naturally aspirated. These two cars represent the pinnacle of what Aston Martin has to offer from two ends of the time spectrum. The V12 Vantage is the old car, with the old engine, while the DB11 is the latest and most advanced car Aston currently sells.

This road test video from Drivetribe might be our new favorite. It takes a careful look at what makes an Aston Martin unique, and compounds on how each of these two cars exemplify those features in various ways. They are immensely similar, but at the same time worlds apart. From the raw and rugged feel of the V12 Vantage, which harkens back to the way cars used to drive, to the modern, smooth and impressively luxurious DB11 defining the future trajectory of the company, this video covers all the bases. Plus you get to see several minutes of some of the most beautiful cars in production today. Hard to ask for more than that.
