Aston Martin V12 Zagato Prototype To Be Auctioned At RM Sotheby’s Paris Sale

Only 65 V12 Zagato were built across 2011 and 2012. This is your chance to buy one that is truly unique!

Mechanically identical to Aston Martin’s phenomenal V12 Vantage, using the same 6 liter 510 horsepower engine and 6-speed manual gearbox, the V12 Zagato makes a beautiful design even better. The car’s exterior has been completely reworked by Zagato and their artists to create a modern throwback to the DB4 Zagato GT of 50 years prior, including the signature “double bubble” roof design. This collaboration between Aston and Zagato was initially built as a prototype for the 2011 iteration of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, where it was awarded the “Design Award for Concept Cars and Prototypes”, a highly coveted award. Aston had previously won this award with their One-77 in 2009.

With a lightweight aluminium crafted body, and a completely overhauled uprated sports suspension, the Zagato allegedly handles as well as it looks. This particular car, chassis #31235, was fitted with additional bespoke pieces that no other Zagato has ever received. This car is referred to as “No. Zero”, and its engine compartment placard relays that information in hand, it is equipped with a bonnet badge made with actual beetles wings in it, the key has been etched with Zagato’s logo which has never been done before or since.

While a standard V12 Vantage takes some 400 hours to hand-craft, each of the sixty-five V12 Zagato were lovingly assembled over the course of 2000 hours. This level of attention to detail is somewhat reflected in the car’s initial price of 330,000 British Pounds. The car pictured here is set to be auctioned during RM Sotheby’s Paris sale next month. For the moment, there is no pre-auction estimate for this car. We fully suspect that this car will sell for much more than it initially retailed for half a decade ago. Happy bidding.
