Autocar: 918 Better Than A Veyron
The British auto magazine had the chance to drive the Porsche 918 Spyder at the car’s recent launch event. Steve Sutcliffe’s capable hands take the fastest, prettiest Porsche since the Carrera GT to the track in this clip.
We get to see all the modes Porsche has programmed into the hybrid electric supercar working as intended.
It’s remarkable how Porsche has has integrated electric motors and batteries so well into a supercar, but it’s when Sutcliffe puts his foot down and the 4.6 litre V8 comes to life does the future of sports cars appear to be headed in a direction that racers will like.
About mid-way through the review, Sutcliffe reveals who the man driving the brand new 911 turbo in front of him is—I won’t spoil the suprise.
All you need to know is that the man is a god behind the wheel of any Porsche. Note the trouble he has keeping the journalist at bay in his 911. Sutcliffe could pass if Porsche let him.
The German entry looks like it’ll do just fine in the upcoming hybrid supercar battle.
