When you want something done right, just do it yourself.

When Dodge created the latest iteration of the Viper ACR, it made sure the world knew how fast it was by sending it around the country and setting lap records at 13 different tracks. But those are all US tracks, and everyone knows that the most important track record is in Germany. Of course we are talking about the Nurburgring. The Viper ACR actually held the title of Ring King back in 2011, but that was with the slower ZB-generation car. Since that record was set all those years ago, the Viper has been knocked off the Nurburgring podium. Sadly, since Dodge is ending Viper production, it is refusing to send the new Phase VX Viper ACR to Germany for a lap time.

This is where we come in, folks. Our friends at ViperExchange are working on sending two Viper ACRs to the Nurburgring in an attempt to take back the track record, and they are turning to crowd funding to finance the project. Over on GoFundMe they have their plan laid out, and are taking donations. The estimated price to try and take the record is between $150k and $200k. As it stands, the team has raised around $175k, but every little bit will help. More money means potential more track time to attempt the record if weather doesn’t cooperate, food for volunteers, tires, oil, and more. The team says the cost to rent the ‘Ring is $13,000 per hour, so they need all the extra cash they can manage.

The cars are already on their way to Germany, so time is running out to help make this new record a reality. As always, keep it locked here on 6Speed and we will be certain to let you know if they successfully retake the fastest production lap at the Nordschleife.

For those curious, here is Dodge’s official 2011 lap around the ‘Ring with the old ACR.
