EVO Magazine Compares F12 Berlinetta to 599 GTO

The 458 Italia has been hogging the spotlight since it’s debut, thanks to it’s beautiful chassis, and world-class handling. But now that the F12 is finally out, it’ll have to share some of that attention with the most powerful Ferrari ever built.

Typically the GTs from Ferrari have played second fiddle to their sports cars.  The 599, while lust inspiring, wasn’t actually different in this regard. Unlike it’s smaller, lighter, less powerful counter parts, it never went racing. What it do extremely well, however, is go fast comfortably. Over the years Ferrari continued to refine it’s handling and add power until the wound up with the 599 GTO, and eventually, the track-only 599XX EVO.

At 740 horsepower, the F12 is Ferrari’s most powerful car. That puts it on par with the 599XX EVO, and far ahead of the road legal 599 GTO. On paper, it should be the best of both worlds. Luckily for us, the guys at EVO magazine have no intention to leave it up to speculation. The Berlinetta might be the newest, fastest, most advanced Ferrari yet, but is it better?
