Daily Driven Exotics Takes On Super Street vs Supercars Event

By -

It’s a 1/2-mile airstrip race with some of the fastest cars in the country, what more do you need?

Damon Fryer came all the way down to California from Canada to make this Vlog for his DailyDrivenExotics YouTube channel. We forgive the all caps click-bait-and-switch title because despite there being no real racing footage, the video is entertaining. Not only do we see Alex Choi’s ridiculously large and clean garage, but we road trip with Fryer in Chois’s Audi RS7 to the event. In fact, we think we can safely say that the only thing more attention-grabbing than the RS7 on the freeway could have been Choi’s Huracan that day.

Daily Driven Exotics Vlog

Choi’s Lamborghini Huracan is often the focus of videos, but his Audi RS7 isn’t much less of an animal. Whether you appreciate urban camouflage vehicle wraps or not, it’s hard not to appreciate a loud as hell 700 horsepower four-door sedan. We’re not sure we would be so nonchalant about using it as an ethanol fuel carrier though, and Fryer is exactly right in describing it as a rolling bomb. We’ve used the term “guided missile” to describe a fast car before, but that’s a bit too literal for comfort.

Fryer’s adventure in transporting the ethanol to the airstrip is comically entertaining. It doesn’t end there though, as there are some awesome cars to see when they get there. We would definitely have liked to see more of the muscle cars, the classic Porsche and the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta. However, hearing the exhaust note from the F12 Berlinetta is enough on its own to justify hitting play.

The Toyota Supra that Choi races is well worth the attention paid to it. Choi’s Huracan does turn out to be the faster car, but the raw spectacle of the Supra spitting flames and making the kind of noise that breaks decibel meters is truly special.

His obsession with cars started young and has left him stranded miles off-road in Land Rovers, being lost far from home in hot hatches, going sideways in rallycross cars, being propelled forward in supercars and, more sensibly, standing in fields staring at classic cars. His first job was as a mechanic and then trained as a driving instructor before going into media production.

The automotive itch never left though, and he realized writing about cars is his true calling. However, that doesn’t stop him from also hosting the Both Hand Drive podcast.
