The Most Expensive Tires in the World are the Definition of Unnecessary

This has to be one of the dumbest ideas I’ve ever seen in my life. When I saw the headline, “world’s most expensive tires,” my first thought was of the Bugatti Veyron. You see, the world’s fastest car requires an extremely special type of tire with a special compound that can handle the immense speed. Even at $30,000-40,000 a set, they’re only good for minutes when the Bugatti is used to its potential. THOSE are truly expensive tires for a real reason. These Z Tires are essentially just frauds.

Z Tires, based in Dubai, partnered with Chinese company Sentury Tire to make the Guinness World Records’ most expensive tires of all time. How? Well, they took Z1 performance tires and studded them with artisan diamonds in Italy. Then they sent them to Abu Dhabi, where they were wrapped in gold leaf. All said, they sold for $600,000. For pieces of rubber that crawl over dirty pavement.

The one good part is that the proceeds from the tires were supposedly sent to charity, so it wasn’t all bad. Zenises Foundation will use the funds for making education more accessible around the world.
