In case you missed it, Long Beach Grand Prix proved that it gets better every year, drawing it’s biggest crowd ever last weekend.

When it comes to race coverage, there’s two ways to splice it: Interpret the race, delicately breaking down the details and analyzing the freeze-frames, or post a bunch of pretty pictures. This time, we’re choosing the latter, because the 2018 Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach was particularly badass and reportedly drew well over 185,000 spectators, which is the event’s largest crowd in at least 18 years. That’s more than last year’s 183,000 guests and may be an all-time record. Even better: One of our favorite photographers, Jim Donnelly, was there capturing all of the action.

It may no longer be truly rear-engined, but the latest Porsche 911 RSR is undeniably fast. Of course, the team had to retire car #912 after suspension component failure. That said, until that point, the 911 RSR was dominating the field through the rough and tumble streets of Long Beach.

We are particularly found of the third picture in the mini gallery above: a 1-2-3 procession of Porsche prowess. Try saying that three times fast. And, of course, a Porsche event wouldn’t be complete without the ubiquitous Magnus Walker in attendance, cheering on his favorite marque. Of course, Porsche wasn’t the only brand throwing down at IMSA.

He obtained a bachelor's degree in Political Science at the Ohio State University in 2013, then pivoted from covering politics and policy to writing about his automotive adventures, something that, he says, is a lot more fun. Since that time, he has established connections with most of the world's major automakers, as well as other key brands in the automotive industry.

He enjoys track days, drifting, and autocross, at least, when his cars are running right, which is uncommon.
