We have been teased for awhile. We knew Porsche had an even hotter Cayman in the works over the GTS. We knew it’d have an adjustable wing on the back, and we even knew it’d be called the GT4.

Now, Porsche has officially shown us their new enthusiast Cayman, and it comes with a very pleasant surprise. The Cayman GT4’s transmission requires a clutch pedal! Drivers rejoice!

The Cayman GT4 is powered by a 3.8L flat-six from the 911 Carrera S, tuned to make 385 horsepower. Sitting amidships, that engine can propel the GT4 to 62 mph in 4.4 seconds. It’ll go on to a top speed of just over 183 miles-per-hour.

But the new Cayman isn’t about straight-line speed. It’s about track performance. The suspension and chassis is almost entirely sourced from the 911 GT3, and sits 30mm lower than a standard Cayman.

Like the bigger GT3, the GT4 can be equipped with carbon-ceramic brakes, carbon fiber reinforced plastic shell bucket seats, a special Sport Chrono Package, and even a club sport package.

Basically load the 911 GT3 configuration utility on Porsche’s website, and the options will be similar.

But there’s one difference. You’ll be able to row your own gears in the driver-focused Cayman, when the only option for the GT3 is the dual-clutch PDK transmission.

But that didn’t stop the GT4 from lapping the Nurburgring in 7 minutes and 40 seconds.

The car will be seen in all of its glory at the Geneva Motor Show and you can already walk down to your local dealership and order one today.
