Here’s Maranello’s Latest Entry-Level Offering: The Ferrari 488 GTB
With so much of the news dominated by Ford lately, we thought we would give you a breather and introduce Ferrari’s latest offering, the 488 GTB.
Okay, so it’s not a radically different car like the LaFerrari was, but rather a forced induction version of everyone’s favorite 458 Italia.
The new “car” uses a pair of twin scroll turbochargers to develop a whopping 660 horsepower and gets to 60 mph in just 3 seconds flat. That means it’s just as fast as the new Speciale.
And to be honest, I never liked the 458’s styling like every other person on the planet. The mouth of the car was just too…catfish like.
However, the 488 GTB, oh baby, now this is a proper Ferrari. The nose, and tail have been redesigned and give it a much more menacing look.
The new 488 GTB is the first mid-engine V8 turbo Ferrari since the iconic F40 stepped out onto the scene. However, unlike the F40, this new car is more everything.
While it weighs quite a bit more, actually 1000 lbs more, the new 488 GTB makes due with an extra 200 horsepower to make up the difference.
The 488 GTB will debut next month in Geneva and will surely sell out soon after that.
