The TUDOR USCC tore up the beautiful Laguna Seca raceway this weekend. The races were packed with drama, controversy, action, and excitement.

In the Prototype class history was made as a Le Mans Prototype car got the overall win ending the dominance that Daytona Prototype teams have enjoyed so far this season. The No. 2 Tequila Patron HPD ARX-03b/Honda driven by Ed Brown and Johannes van Overbeek took the win.  The No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Konica Minolta Corvette DP, driven by Jordan and Ricky Taylor finished second. Memo Rojas and Scott Pruett in their No. 01 chip Ganassi Racing Telcel Ford EcoBoost/Riley DP rounded out the podium.

The Prototype Challenge class saw the No. 8 Martini Starworks Motorsports car of Mirco Schultis and Renger van de Zande take the win Leguna Seca 2014 2over the No. 25 8Star Motorsports machine of Luis Diaz and Sean Rayhall with brilliant pit strategy. The No. 09 RSR Racing of Bruno Junqueira and Duncan Ende finished third.

Corvette Racing brought home their second consecutive GTLM race win. The No. 3 Corvette C7R piloted by Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen made it a Corvette sweep of both the California races. The drama came after the race when the No. 911 Porsche North America 911 RSR of Nick Tandy and Richard Lietz was stripped of its second place finish by being accessed a stop-and-go + 60 second penalty for avoidable contact with the No. 55 BMW Team RLL BMW Z4 GTE of Bill Auberlen and Andy Priaulx. The penalty dropped the No. 911 back to sixth place and moved the No. 55 up to second and the No. 62 Risi Competizione Ferrari 458 Italia of Giancarlo Fisichella and Pierre Kaffer to third place.

In the GT Daytona class it looked like the No. 45 Audi R8 LMS of Spencer Pumpelly was set to win until he ran out of fuel coming through the famous corkscrew turn on the last lap. The miscalculation by the Flying Lizard team changed the heated second place battle into a sprint for the win between the No. 94 Turner Motorsports BMW Z4 of Dane Cameron and the No. 48 Paul Miller Racing Audi R8 LMS of Christopher Haase. Cameron held off Haase for a 0.168 second margin of victory. The fuel starved Audi of Pumpelly would come to a halt short of the checkered flag for a sixth place finish. Andy Lally and John Potter held on for a third place finish in the No. 44 Magnus Racing Porsche 911 America.

The next stop for the TUSCC will be on the streets of Belle Isle for the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix on May 31st.

The race will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 1 at 1:30 P.M. EST.
