The Jaguar XFR-S Sportbrake is Gorgeous

I fuckin’ love station wagons. So much in fact, that I’m willing to risk upsetting my editors in order to properly emphasize how enamored I am with this particular class of vehicle. Actually, let’s a couple steps back. What I really meant to say was I fuckin’ love high powered station wagons.

The CTS-V wagon, any non-lifted Mercedes-Benz AMG, Audi RS Avants, whatever.

These unnecessarily monstrous, oddly practical vehicles are the ultimate experession of automotive irony. They’re the vehicles only the most hardcore crazies want, but no one really needs (which of course is why they tend to be low volume sellers). Either way, it’s a class I have an undying love for, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to see that Jaguar has jumped into the fray with their own 542bhp supercharged XFR-S Sportbrake.

That’s right, you heard it right. 542 brake horsepower through its supercharged 5.0-litre v8. The engine has been lifted out of the F-Type R Coupe and by the way, makes 502 lb-ft of torque.

How’s that to get your kids and they’re snotty little friends to soccer practice?

The XFR-S sportbrake will smash 0-62mph in 4.8 seconds and go all the way to 186mph before hitting its electronic limiter. Unfortunately, these numbers do put it squarely behind the E63 AMG (4.3 seconds) and Audi RS6 Avant (3.9 seconds), but surely these specs are fast enough for a shit your pants run to the grocery store with the help of a stiffened chassis over the standard XF.

Watch out for the hot wagon Jag as it heads to the Geneva Motor Show, but as of now, it doesn’t appear we’ll ever see one of these stateside. Disappointed, but not surprised. For our lucky European counterparts, this little marvel will run a cool £82,495.
