Daniel Craig’s Aston Martin Vanquish Headed to Charity Auction

Aston Martin Vanquish

Number 007 of 100 built, this Aston Martin Vanquish Centenary Edition might as well be called a Bond car!

Daniel Craig assumed the legendary role of James Bond back in 2005, becoming the first blonde-haired, kinda-short 007 in the franchise’s history. Which, of course, sparked a bit of outrage. But with four successful Bond films in the books and another on the way, fans have since accepted the British actor as a suitable spy. And considering the fact that he also owns an Aston Martin Vanquish Centenary Edition, he’s pretty much OK in our book, too.

As you might guess, this particular car is number 007 (naturally) of 100 built. And naturally, the 2014 special edition celebrates the automaker’s centennial celebration. Power comes from Aston’s familiar 6.0-liter V12, backed up an automatic transmission. Craig’s particular car sports a graduated dark blue/black paint job and sterling silver wings covered in “trans flux” enamel. Like all Aston Martin Vanquish Centenary Editions, it also wears a variety of carbon fiber bodywork. On the inside, you’ll find numbered sill plates and embroidered head rests.

Craig teamed up with Marek Reichman, Aston Martin’s Chief Creative Officer, to button up the details on his unique ride. His affinity for dark colors led to the deep blue hues inside and out. And the glovebox even holds a bunch of special goodies, including Bang & Olufsen headphones, Aston cufflinks, a Rollerball pen, and a polishing cloth. For, of course, shining up all those fancy trim pieces on a whim.

But now Craig is ready to move on from his special Aston Martin Vanquish. And he’s using the opportunity to benefit a great cause. The car is set to be auctioned off at Christie’s “The Exceptional Sale” on April 20 in New York City. All proceeds will benefit The Opportunity Network, a non-profit that aids young people in their career development.

For somewhere around the auction estimate of $400,000 to $600,000, you can own Bond’s (left-hand drive!) car. And even though it never appeared in any of the films, that doesn’t make it any less cool!
