Lamborghini’s Super Racecar Revealed

There are never enough racing Lamborghinis in the world. That is just a fact. A fact that Lamborghini themselves feel the same way too.

In the past, Lamborghini created the Super Trofeo series for their racing Gallardos, and now with the demise of the Gallardo, Lamborghini is eager to capitalize on the success and marketing of that series with its new Huracan.

Set to debut later this year, the new Huracan Super Trofeo race car is getting its shakedown tests in Italy this week. The car is set to race in the Blancpain series alongside its older brother the Gallardo, although the two will race in separate classes.

The Huracan will be Lamborghini’s volume sales model and key to its success are the many version to be had directly from Lamborghini, including the race car version.

The Gallardo race cars have been fairly dominant in their classes where ever they are raced, the combination of lightweight and that beautiful sounding V10 make a formidable racecar.

Right now, the Huracan racecar is being fine-tuned by Lamborghini’s R&D chief Girgio Sanna at the track. I’m not sure how you fine tune a car that already has 603 hp, 413 lb-ft of torque, and a 0-60 time that is dangerously close to most of the modern hybrid hypercars?

The new Huracan, unlike previous Lamborghini models, was designed to do both road and track work, and with this new racecar, we will see how much of the road going version really needs to be changed to do full-duty at the track.
