The Lancia Stratos is Back … in the Form of a Kit Car
It’s a shame nothing ever came of the modern Pininfarina-designed Lancia Stratos of 2010 that you see below.
I should say nothing ever came of it until now. It seems Pininfarina’s tease of the decade sparked some hunger in the folks at Lister Bell who have ushered a Stratos revival with their new kit car that has impressed the trousers off Autocar’s Steve Sutcliffe.
It’s called the Lister Bell STR, and it can be yours for £40,000 ($65,300). That’s cheap! Like, Corvette-cheap! And it gets better because if you are mechanically inclined, you can assemble it by yourself for less than £30,000 ($49,000). That’s really cheap! Like Nissan 370Z Roadster-cheap.
Sutcliffe says the company hasn’t been around that long, but they’ve already sold 10-12 replicas. I’m willing to wager Steve ends up buying one for himself. Watch the video below, and see why a bank robbery is in our favorite Autocar reviewer’s future.
