Leaked Photo Reveals Jaguar C-X17 SUV

As the luxury-car horsepower wars appear to be cooling down, premium automakers seem to be on the cusp of a new conflict: the lightweight wars. What you see above is a leaked image of Jaguar’s aluminum-intensive C-X17 SUV concept scheduled to debut at next week’s Frankfurt Motor Show. Jaguar is using this concept to showcase its newest modular aluminum architecture; a platform that will act as the “shot heard ’round the world” to kick off the lightweight wars.

Jaguar is adamant about branding itself as a luxury automaker with a full-line of aluminum-structured cars. They plan to achieve this goal within four years. Competition like the next-generation Audi A4 will be using a hybrid steel and aluminum structure, while the next BMW 7 Series is rumored to be all-aluminum. Indeed, the fire is under the cat’s behind because the cat fears being left behind.
