Luft 7 Takes Air-Cooled Porsche Show East for 2020
Luft 7 takes epic cross-country trip from SoCal to Durham, North Carolina on May 29-31 for one heck of a showcase.
Over the last six years, Luftgekühlt has quickly become our favorite Porsche event. And that’s saying a lot, given the high level of competition present in that particular field. But few other shows so eloquently capture the passion behind air-cooled Porsches, nor can they do so in such an artful way. Much of that can be attributed to the fact that Luft changes venues every year. And after last year’s amazing showing at the Universal Studios lots in Hollywood, California, Luft 7 is taking a cross-country road trip to Durham, North Carolina on May 29-31.
That also means that left coast attendees have a fantastic opportunity to take a road trip, too. Thus, Luft 7 organizers are currently laying the groundwork for that. Along with a group trip from both the North and Southeast. Details as of now are scant, but you can sign up to receive updates by heading over here. But no matter how you plan on arriving at Luft 7, we’d highly recommend getting there. Whether that be plane, train, or automobile.
The brainchild of two-time Le Mans class winner Patrick Long and noted Southern California creative director Howie Idelson, Luft has quickly established itself as the definitive air-cooled Porsche showcase. It features everything from the Pre-A 356 to the 993 911, and everything in between. Including both street and race cars, many of them incredibly rare and noteworthy.
With a carefully curated list of content, Luft always delivers the goods with zero fluff. And organizers do so in a very artful and unique way. But this is a celebration of culture, of course, and a passionate fan base that’s grown exponentially since the last air-cooled Porsche was produced over 30 years ago.
And that’s what has catapulted Luft to the upper crest of the Porsche enthusiast world. Always interesting, never boring, and constantly evolving, this event never ceases to amaze. And you can bet that Luft 7 will only further this tradition. Not to mention cement its status as the greatest Porsche show on earth.
