Inexpensive race track for sale, gives us terribly great ideas.

Our friends over at RacingJunk.com sent us something cool, and we thought we would share. A dis-used race track has been listed for sale on RacingJunk and it’s too good not to share. Montgomery Motorsports Park is available for purchase.  Located just 45 minutes outside of St. Louis, MO, in Wentzville, this could be the next great destination race facility.

Let’s clear something up, first off: this is not the Montgomery Motorsports Park in Montgomery, Alabama. That is a 1/4 mile drag strip. This MMP is a 3/8″ mile circle track. Yes, it’s unpaved. However, before you tune out, think of the possibilities. For less than $500,000 you could own the entire estate, which is the track, grand stands and the surrounding area.

Dirt track racing is fun to watch, but here at 6SpeedOnline, our first thought would be to pave the whole thing, including the infield. Boom, instant race circuit. Comparably-sized paved speedways are great for autocrosses, drifting and mini track days. Of course, the die hard riders would be mortified at the prospect of paving the track, but the temptation is all too real. A private circuit would be incredible. Of course, if paved, it could be rented out to nearby motorsports groups when not being used. I bet the SCCA would throw in some good cash to hold autocrosses there on Sundays. The drift degenerates would likely scrounge up some cash to slide, as well. Of course, this wouldn’t be a massive money maker, it’s for sale for a reason. However, it would help recoup the costs of purchase and ownership, at least a bit.

Do we have any 6SpeedOnline enthusiasts in Missouri? Might be something worth checking in. As of this writing, it’s still for sale on RacingJunk.com.
