When you think of old police cars, you’d be forgiven if you immediately thought of the Ford Crown Victoria that has been the go to for police departments around the U.S. for decades. There really aren’t that many alternatives to the Crown Vic, yet, there once was in the Netherlands. And it just so happens to be an extremely awesome, classic Porsche 911 Targa.

There are multiple crazy things about the story of this Porsche. First off, it’s one of five delivered to the Netherlands police department. It was part of a special traffic enforcement unit. And this car was in service until 1993.

The car still has all of its police regalia, and even has a wooden box in the trunk that would contain all of the police equipment. This particular car was also once a racecar. In 1974, it had just finished in the Grand Prix White, but then was sold to the police department.

Now however, the car is up for sale, to get the best price, was just restored this year to be absolute perfect. Bonhams is estimating that the 1974 Porsche 911 Targa will sell for around $200,000. Wouldn’t it be awesome to have a police Porsche, heck, even just for the alliteration!
