Porsche 911 GT3, Why are You So Perfect?

A lot was on the line in the creation of the current Porsche 911 GT3. The development team had to figure out how to project a racecar’s soul onto the 997 platform, which is no easy task when grappling with safety and fuel economy standards. Yet, despite the challenges — despite losing the legendary Metzger engine, and the manual gearbox — the new GT3 stupefies you in jaw-dropping amazement.

Porsche takes a look at the thought processes that brought the 997 GT3 to production form. In the video below, you’ll get to hear 911 GT3 development team leader Andreas Preuninger talk about how he navigated the critical decisions he had to make when creating the newest GT3.
