A British design and custom manufacturing firm is building a 914 restomod. With Cayman S power. Place your order now.

There are countless examples of companies taking a classic Porsche 911 and turning into a custom masterpiece. Often using more modern Porsche running gear. These vehicles are never cheap, but the results are jaw dropping. However, these are all based on the legendary 911. The Porsche 914 is a different animal. It was designed to slot in under the 911 and while it did an admirable job, it was never looked at the same way as the iconic big brother. Even though in recent years the 914 has started to get some love from enthusiasts, and some of the rarer models are becoming valuable. There has not really been a focus on making a 914 restomod. It appears that is about to change.

Fifteen Eleven Design is a British company that for years has been building bespoke project cars of the highest order. Some of their work includes a Jaguar E-Type with a race spec engine and an Aston Martin Ulster that they have prepped for racing as well. Now they seem interested in dabbling in the world of German cars.

If you are going to go German, Porsche is a great place to start. The 911 is the obvious choice, but we love the fact that they are looking to get into the Porsche game with the 914. There is not a ton of detail yet released on this project. For example, we don’t know the cost or how many will be built, and of course the final specs are yet to be defined. However, what we do know has us very intrigued.

The look of the car is of course what grabs you first. We have seen plenty of car renderings in the past, and while they often look great, we know they will never get built. What makes this exciting is that the renderings look great, and Fifteen Eleven is taking orders now. There is no mistaking this car for anything other than a 914. It doesn’t have a wild body kit and a ton of vents and spoilers.

The new car simply looks like a more modern interpretation of the classic car. It has the wider fender flares from the 914/6 model. Freshened lighting treatment front and rear along with a dual center-exit exhaust. Aside from that, it is pretty much a 2021 model 914 and it looks great.

Rumor has it that powering this 914 restomod is going to be the 3.4L flat-six from the 981 generation Porsche Cayman S. That engine will pump out about 325 horsepower. While that may not seem like a massive number consider this. That will be roughly three times the power that the most powerful 914/6 ever produced, so it should make this car scoot and sound glorious while doing it.

It is also expected to borrow the Cayman suspension hardware as well as the four-pot Brembo brakes that came on the 981 Cayman S. Those brakes will be hiding behind a lovely set of 18-inch Fuchs alloy wheels.

This is going to be a special car, and we are sure it will be offered at a special price. By special we mean expensive. Nothing official has been announced but based on what other Porsche restomods tend to go for you better budget around $250K if you want one of these in your garage. So, if you had that kind of money to spend on a car, would you order this 914 restomod? Let us know your thoughts in the 6SpeedOnline forums.
