Porsche 918 Weissach

The Weissach Package represents the ultimate in Porsche 918 performance. And this one-of-five Guards Red example is up for grabs!

For fans of hypercars, 2015 was an amazing time. We were treated to perhaps the most exciting (nearly simultaneous) release of cars ever, in fact. Nearly every notable automotive TV show and rag vied to get their hands on a Porsche 918, Ferrari LaFerrari, and McLaren P1 for a side-by-side comparison. And of course, only a few (famously) succeeded. Lost in the endless debate over which car was best, however, remains that fact that each is special in its own right. And this rare Guard Red Porsche 918 Weissach Package, up for sale at Merit Partners, might be the most special of the bunch.

After all, this is the car that Porsche famously whipped around the Nuburgring to set a new production car record lap of 6 minutes, 57 seconds. And they did it by one-upping themselves, interestingly enough. As if the regular old 918 wasn’t fast enough, the geniuses at Stuttgart decided to make it even faster. So they did so using the ages old automotive trick of shedding weight. With magnesium wheels, loads of carbon fiber bits, and fewer interior pieces, the Porsche 918 Weissach Package shed a not-insignificant 90 pounds.

And that weight loss showed up on the track. The Weissach-equipped 918 shed 0.2 seconds off the regular model’s 0-62 mph time, taking it down to 2.6 seconds. 0-124 mph improved by a half second to 7.2. And the Weissach takes only 19.9 seconds to reach 186 mph, an improvement of 2.1 ticks.

But if you’re looking to buy this even-more-special ride, you won’t find many examples on the used car market. In fact, only 162 Porsche 918 Weissach editions were imported to the U.S. And only five of them were optioned in Guards Red. Needless to say, that makes this stunning, 525-mile example a truly special car. So you might want to stop drooling and check out the entire listing by heading over here!
