This is some very un-Porsche-like news. Owners of the latest generation of GT3 (you know, the one with the 9000 rpm redline), might have reason to worry that their cars have a proclivity for pyrotechnics. Five different cars across Europe have been reported in Europe according to Motor Authority.

Porsche product communications manager, Nick Twork, states that Porsche has “asked dealers to stop selling the 911 GT3 until we can analyze reports of engine problems in a very small number of vehicles.”

It’s good that they stopped the sales of the GT3 temporarily, considering there might be a design related issue causing it to catch fire. Porsche build them is small volumes, so five cars going up in a week is a particularly troubling sign.

This small issue isn’t likely to keep Porsche from releasing the GT3 RS in a few months however. Word on the street is that one might come with a stick. Here’s to hoping.
