New series dubbed Porsche Road Trip hits the road to explore Porsche sub-culture in a new and refreshing way.

Longtime Porsche fans are likely familiar with the YouTube channel Der Faszination, which has been producing documentaries of classic Porsches and their owners, as well as providing event coverage of all things Porsche for years now via the channel’s purveyor, John Polnik. Now, Polnik has a brand new series dubbed Porsche Road Trip that takes a similar approach to exploring Porsche sub-culture, yet does so in a very different yet very interesting way.

As the name might imply, Porsche Road Trip stars Polnik on his mission to drive his classic machine across the continent and visit all the cool places, people, and cars that make the Porsche universe what it is today. Polnik also visits with a number of celebrities along the way who also happen to be Porsche fanatics, including comedian Adam Corolla, rapper Sir Mix A Lot, and Porsche builder Rod Emory.

Porsche Road Trip

Porsche Road Trip isn’t your typical, cookie-cutter car show that pulls off silly, staged stunts or other tomfoolery for views. It also doesn’t try to bore us with specs and stats. Rather, it takes a deep dive into Porsche culture, exploring the what, where, and why of what makes the brand so endearing and enduring to enthusiasts. And to us at least, that’s quite refreshing in a world of knock-off car shows.

Porsche Road Trip is produced by Carolla’s Chassy Media and all eight episodes are currently available to view on Pluto TV. Episode 1 kicks off with a conversation with Carolla and Los Angeles-based enthusiast “The Professor,” while the second episode heads to Seattle to kick it with Sir Mix A Lot, who appreciates the 911’s large rear end, unsurprisingly.

Polnik’s big road trip then takes him to Las Vegas, up through the mountains, to a massive gathering and campout in Portland, down The Crest to visit with Emory, out to the Bay Area to soak in some Radwood goodness, and back to Las Vegas to explore how the owners of air-cooled Porsches manage in the desert heat.

It’s all great fun, and well worth the watch for any hardcore Porsche fan that enjoys soaking in a little programming that isn’t full of schtick and scripts. And to us, it’s a truly refreshing take on Porsche culture that’s sorely needed these days.
