Project 230mph: BlackHorseTurbo’s 996 Turbo

For most peopledriving 200mph is terrifying thought. And yet, year after year, racers pack up and head to Texas for a slew of racing events. The Texas Invitational. The Texas Mile. TX2kx. 6Speeder BlackHorseTurbo is one of those guys. His goal? To pass his previous best of 212mph and hit 230mph in a mile.

BATsBHT isn’t new to this. Last year he took his 996 turbo to 212 mph at the Texas Mile. That’s fast. But not as fast as it will be now that he’s stuffed these two bad boys into the engine bay.

There’re more pics and a load more detail about his build in the the forum thread. According to his post, he’s making 711 on the wastegate. And that’s before getting a tune. Add the fact that he’s got it on the bottle, and suddenly it’s a little bit easier to understand how a car can accelerate like this. He was making 1000hp last year and I can only see that number going up.

The Texas Mile is coming up in a few weeks with the Texas Invitational following it in April. These are some of the fastest street cars in the world, and I can’t wait. See some of BHT’s videos from last year’s Texas Invitational below.
