Most fanatics will decry this 997 Turbo’s drop top and slush box transmission. But we’re willing to overlook those little minor details!

Ask any Porsche lover what their favorite breed of 911 is, and the answers will undoubtedly vary. While most hold a soft spot for vintage air-cooled examples, other prefer the more predictable modern machines. Few represent what one might call a bargain in today’s marketplace, however. And yet, the 997-gen Porsche 911 is still relatively affordable. And very much awesome.

This particular 997 Turbo Porsche 911, which we spotted over at Bring a Trailer, is something extra special, however. With only 14,000 miles on the odometer, you won’t find many better. The low-mile, three owner ride has plenty of nice options as well, including the Sport Chrono package, Sport Seats, and Park Assist. About the only strike against it is the presence of the widely panned Tiptronic automatic transmission.

Otherwise, this is one gorgeous 997 Turbo. The chin spoiler has been replaced, but a clear bra mostly protected the front end from nasty rock chips. The rear of the car was repaired after an accident a few years back, but you’d have a hard time telling. New 19-inch wheels and Michelin Pilots are a nice touch, visually speaking and performance-wise.

Take a look at the interior, engine bay, and trunk, and you’d think no one had ever sat in or used this decade-old Porsche 911. Aside from the unavoidable driver’s seat leather creases, that is. And in case the 997 Turbo’s original 3.4-second 0-60 time isn’t enough, an ECU tune kicks things up to a reported 600 hp.

If you don’t mind the fact that this stellar Porsche 911 is a Cabriolet or an auto box, you won’t find a much better example out there. And hey, those two little niggles will undoubtedly save the new owner a bundle of cash. Plus, we’re pretty sure they won’t care when they smash the go pedal that first time!
