Track Test: 2014 Corvette Stingray VS 2013 SRT Viper

Chevrolet Corvette Stingray versus SRT Viper Home

We love ourselves a good Vette-versus-Viper battle. Edmunds is the first to compare these two. While the 640-horsepower Viper outguns the 460-horsepower Corvette on paper, you’re about to see the Corvette give the Viper a run for its money.

Speaking of money, the Viper as tested rings the registers a hair shy of $102,000 — that’s the base model sans optional extras. The generously equipped Corvette in this test costs $69,675.

If the base Corvette did this well in a comparison against the Viper, we can’t wait to see the Z06 and ZR1 venture into the snake pit.

C7 Corvette Stingray Brake Dive

There’s just one concern we have about the Corvette’s performance: its catastrophic brake dive. Granted, the car stops from 60 mph in 99 feet, and generates a lot of g-force in doing so, but there is no excuse for the front air dam to be having an intimate lunch date with the tarmac. Ever heard of anti-dive suspension geometry, GM?
