Race Report: TUSCC at Road America
It was an eventful weekend for the TUDOR United Sports Car Championship at Road America. There were a total of 21 laps under caution, mostly for drivers going off course. The DeltaWing had its best showing of the year with an 8th place finish.
Katherine Legg and Andy Meyrich have struggled to even finish a race in the DeltaWing this year. The big incident was contact between, Championship hopefuls OAK Racing and The No. 2 Extreme Speed Motorsports Honda HPD ARX-03b of Johannes van Overbeek and Ed Brown. The No. 42 OAK Racing Nissan/Morgan was unable to continue, losing valuable championship points.
In the Prototype class the No. 5 Action Express Corvette DP of Joao Barbosa and Christian Fittipaldi won. The win gives Barbosa and Fittpaldi a sixteen point lead over Jordan and Ricky Taylor in the No. 10 Corvette DP.
In second place were Ozz Negri and John Pew in the No. 60 Michael Shank Racing Ford EcoBoost Riley. Scott Sharp and Ryan Dalziel in the Extreme Speed Motorsports HPD ARX-03b managed to finish third.
The action was intense in the Prototype Challenge class. The No. 8 Starworks Motorsports machine of Renger van der Zende and Mirco Schultis battled the No. 25 8Star Motorsports car driven by Sean Rayhall and Luis Dias all race.
The two cars even touch leaving pit lane on their final pit stop, with the No. 8 gaining the advantage. The No. 85 JDM Miller Motorsports entry of Chris Miller and Stephan Simpson finished in, a season best third place.
In GTLM, it was the bright red No. 62 Ferrari 458 Italia of Risi Competizion driven by Giancarlo Fisichella and Pierre Kaffer that took the win. The No. 62 Ferrari held off a late race charge from the No. 56 BMW Z4 GTE of BMW Team RLL driven by Dirk Mueller and John Edwards.
Jonathan Bomarito and Kuno Wittmer gained valuable points by finishing third in the No. 93 SRT Motorsports Dodge Viper GTS-R.
In GTD it was the No. 94 Turner Motorsports BMW Z4 GT3 of Markus Palttala and Dane Cameron that drove home the win. Leh Keen and Cooper MacNeil managed to capture second in the No. 22 Alex Job Racing Porsche 911 GT America followed by the Porsche of Jan Heylen and Madison Snow, who gave Snow Racing their first podium finish of the season.

Up next for the TUSCC is the Oak Tree Grand Prix at the beautiful Virginia International Raceway. The 2 hour and 45 minute timed race will be held on August 23-24 at the 3.27 mile circuit, and will feature PC, GTLM, and GTD classes.
