Unbeaten Ferrari Dominates WEC Spa 6 Hours

Ferrari continued on its dominant FIA WEC way with another compelling 1-2 to remain unbeaten on a 2025 hat trick at the Spa 6 Hours

Ferrari continued on its dominant way in the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship with another compelling 1-2 to remain unbeaten on a 2025 hat trick at the Spa 6 Hours in Belgium on Saturday. James Calado, Antonio Giovinazzi and Alessandro Pier Guidi’s 51 car led their sister 50Ferrari 499P crew Nicklas Nielsen, Miguel Molina and Antonio Fuoco home to clinch the win.

The AF Corse Ferrari team now not only heads to Le Mans unbeaten in the 2025 WEC, but it is chasing a third 24 Hour victory in a row too. Spa was also a double victory for Ferrari as 296 GT3 crew Francois Heriau, Simon Mann and Alessio Rovera (below) fought back from an early penalty to take LMGT3 honours after a race long battle with the Olsen Levorato Gattuso Ford Mustang GT3. The Flohr Castellacci Rigon Ferrari was third.

Spa 6 Hour Was an Intense Race-Long Battle

The second 50 Ferrari overcame an intense race-long Hypercar battle with Frédéric Makowiecki, Jules Gounon and Mick Schumacher, who gave the Alpine A424 its second podium on the trot ahead of the number 8 Buemi Hartley Hirakawa Toyota GR 010 Hybrid which bounced back from another qualifying disaster. The two Lynn Nato Stevens and Bamber Bourdais Button Cadillacs followed from the second number 7 Conway Kobayashi de Vries Toyota.

The second Alpine was running fourth with three laps to go but dropped to eighth following a penultimate laps splash and dash fuel stop. Porsche’s season of woe continued with the Estre Vanthoor Wehrlein 963 0nly ninth ahead of the best BMW in tenth. Peugeot showed pace but its effort fell apart with the di Resta Jensen Vergne car eleventh from the second Porsche and the rapidly improving Aston Martin Valkyries.

Ferrari Aced Spa 6 Hour Strategy

Ferrari dominated qualifying when three 499P blocking out front of the grid in Hyperpole in spite of rapidly escalating success balance of performance penalties, The race however proved more of a challenge, with Alpine, BMW, Toyota (below) and Peugeot all taking their chances to lead.

The Ferraris however aced the strategy as Pier Guidi emerged in the lead in the 51 with an hour left to race, while Nielsen fought Schumacher off for second. The second BMW retired with a brake problem in the final hour, the second Peugeot stopped after contact and the yellow Ferrari was delayed for an hour with a turbocharger issue.

Now for Le Mans!

Ita all eyes on Le Mans next for the 24 Hour, where it is simply a matter of beating those Ferraris. The Italian cars however not only arrive at the Sarthe classic unbeaten in 2025, but also fresh off two Le Mans wins on the trot. Cross that 24 hours from 3 pm Saturday 14 June to the same time on Sunday 15 off your diary now!
