No direct experience with Cayenne but generally speaking the best model to buy is the last or next to last model before the model undergoes a revamp.

The last year or two before the revamp the model line has benefited from what the automaker learned from the earlier examples and improvements have been made to the model line. Some publicized, others applied on the hush hush.

On the flip side generally the worst model is the 1st one offered after a revamp. These earliest vehicles can be "buggy".

I have same school of thoughts as Macster, however I think the OP is looking for an upgrade and looking for a low mile replacement, perhaps some advancements that would generally cured the money pit he had.
