1966 911 - Carb Problems

Hi all - Have a (one-family) 1966 911 - that we've had in the family since brand new in summer of '65.

Have recently traded out stock solexes for weber carbs...

Am wondering if anyone has any suggestions/manuals/resources for adjusting the mix on the carb... It seems to be running rich (obvious answer is to adjust to add more air to the mix - but that is not working). Have also tried both advancing and retarding the timing - to no avail.

Symptoms include:

- Feels to not be firing on all cylinders (has lost power)
- All plugs are fine and gapped fine
- Gas Mileage is lower than normal
- Not burning oil

My hypothesis is that I've burned some valves on 1-2 cylinders - but am hoping that's not the case - wondering some other things I could/should look for or try.
