2006 17" Cayenne wheels on a 1987 Carrera 3.2?
I would like to take the 17" wheels from the Cayenne, fit them with new tires that have the proper circumference, and install them on a 1987 Carrera 3.2. I under stand that all 4 wheels on the Cayenne are the same size and the 911 does not...I'm just curious if it would even work.
I've owned my 911 for quite some time (10 years or so) and will eventually either have my Fuch wheels repaired (the "clear coating" around the circumference has worn off in some areas. Probably from strong wheel cleaner.
) But for now, I like the look of the Cayenne wheels and would like to give it a try.
As for the Cayenne, the 17" inch wheels look a little small so this would give me an excuse to upgrade them!
I'm new to this forum and hope I'm doing this right.
Thanks for looking.

I would not recommend trying that because the 17 inch wheels will add at least 10lbs of unsprung weight to each wheel. The offsets are going to be incorrect, the wheels are not going to work in this application without spacers (more weight!!?), and the tires are probably going to rub or won't be available in the correct size.
When it comes to wheels for the older 911's the Fuchs 16" forged wheels are the best available ever made. Only recent 17" Forged Fuch style 3 piece wheels are as good in the taller size. Handling is definitely going to be degraded from this modification if you put the heavier Cayenne wheels on a Carrera 3.2.
