81 Porsche question

Im new to Porsche. I'm looking at buying an 81 Porsche 911 sc targa top. It has 90,000 miles on it. It's all original. The interior needs to be redone and there is a small dent under the front bumper. The car runs and drives great! I'm just wondering what would be a good fair price for it? Nada says fair retail is 18,100. I just can't see spending 18,000 for a 30 year old car.

I work with the guy. And he knows ive wanted it for awhile and he came to me asked if I wanted to buy it. He just said give me an offer. So I went on nada and it was 18,100. I told him my offer wasn't gonna be good enough. But said give me it anyway. So I said 12,000. It's all I can really afford. He said he wasn't gonna sell it to me for that much. So I gave him another offer of 9,000. And I'm still waiting for a response. But I was just making sure that it was a good price. How hard is it to find parts for this old of cars.

Did you offer him 12K, then 9k?

Getting parts for these cars is a non-issue... there were some parts of the 911s that went unchanged for many many years.

If interior was an 8+ then I could see paying 18K. If you need to redo the interior, really redo it, then 14-15....

How many owners? Any history on the car? If you move forward with it don't forget to take it to a mechanic for a PPI. That could be 150-200 dollars.... well worth it.

Good luck. 1978-1989 911s are awesome (generally speaking).
