Lightbulb 911 as a DD?

Hi this question is for 911 owners. Do you use your 911 as your daily driver? Or is this more of your weekend car? Just curious.

Cheers!

Yes! Absolutely! I'm in Denver and have a LX-570 SUV for bad weather and because we have so many nice sunny days here I drive my 997 a lot more than my SUV. I really look forward to driving the 911 and settle for the Lexus on bad days. No issues, no problems, great, great daily driver!!! I'm driving it today!

Mine was a daily driver. I see no reason to not drive it as often as possible.

I just bought a 2009 Carrera. While the car is very comfortable I just completed a 350 mile round trip over the weekend and feel a bit worn out by it. The car is perfectly capable of being a DD, but I'm glad I have my 3-series to commute in.

I started planning to drive mine only on the weekends and occasionally to commute, but that changed pretty quickly. It's just so much more fun for me to drive my 911 than the SUV. At least with a BMW you have an engaging and tight riding car, but I wonder if in a year if you will find yourself jumping in the 911 more often.

The best thing I did to make my car a better DD was change the exhaust and the plenum!

To the OP, being from NJ, do yo plan on driving your 911 in the winter or do you have a second car for snow? I've toyed with putting snows on mine but have no experience in driving mine in the snow.

We have SUVs for the winter. And yes being in N.NJ would be difficult during the winter for a 911. Probably be a DD from early spring to mid fall. We're considering an older 911, late 80s.

Sorta depends on what you prioritize as important for the DD. If you are used to new car conveniences and comfort (like hands free, nav, heated seats, decent defroster, comfortable ride), then no. If you like the retro experience, nimble handling, small footprint, dont mind the wear and tear, etc...then go for it! I dont hesitate to use my RS tribute for DD duty but would probably grow old if that was the only option i had. If I had an unmodded newer 911, it would be a different story.

I agree. Your Maserati should do fine as a DD.
